Officer Hernandez - U.S. Navy

I’m 25 years old. I’m originally from Donna, Texas. I have served in the World’s Finest Navy for 6 years and have loved every minute of it. The reason why I joined the navy was because I wanted to experience life from a different perspective and get out if my comfort zone and to learn new skills and trades that I can carry with me beyond my career. Some fun facts about deployment is that they can range from 6-9 months. You stop at a new port/country twice a month and see the most beautiful sights in the world. You ear warm cooked meals daily on the ship. While on deployment you don’t have to spend any money unless it’s for excursions or souvenirs since everything is provided for you on the ship and your money is free from taxes. The reason I love the navy is because of all the different places I’ve been afforded the privilege to see and the various cultures I’ve been able to experience. Another reason is because of all the great people I’ve met and friendships I’ve built over the past 6 years.

SGT. Miller - U.S. Marines

I was born in Ventura, California and raised there till I was 2 years old. I then loved in San Angelo, Texas until I joined the Marine Corps. I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to change my life for the better. I watched 9/11 happen and didn’t like the way my family felt, how America felt. So, I wanted to the challenge for myself and I wanted to become of the few and proud that defend our country. I joined in as infantry and was stationed in California, South Carolina, and now Texas. I have been on 2 deployments and have had the privilege of visiting 13 other countries.

SGT. Rivera - U.S National Guard

“Hey! My name is Staff Sergeant Militsa Rivera. I’ve Been in the military for a total of 12 years. I first joined as a junior in high school in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. I joined because I needed a way to pay for my college and I wanted to set a foundation for a successful future. After I completed my initial training I moved to Texas and started college. I then switched to active duty and was stationed at Fort Lewis Washington for 4 years. I decided to switch to the Texas Army National guard so that I could be closer to my parents in Texas and be able to come home every night to my 3 little boys.  I am grateful for everything that the military has done for my family and I am even more proud to say that I am able to give others the same opportunities I needed as a young 17 year old.”
